In an election year, President Joe Biden plans to depart from what was formerly a yearly ritual. Every president has a sit-down interview with the Super Bowl hosting network.

CBS News has verified that Biden will not take part in a pregame interview prior to the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the San Francisco 49ers, as reported by Brian Steinberg of Variety. Biden has declined an interview for this Super Bowl pregame show for the second time:

CBS News verified that President Joe Biden would not participate in any Q&A during the pre-game festivities before Super Bowl LVIII airs on February 11. In recent weeks, the White House had held talks with the Paramount Global news organization.

It was unknown which correspondent was being considered for the assignment, but the offer from CBS News was reportedly for a 15-minute interview, of which three or four minutes would have been broadcast during the network’s pre-game coverage.

President Biden has declined the chance to address the crowd, which usually numbers in the tens of millions, even in the final hours before the game. This will be his second consecutive year declining the offer.Additionally, last year, President Biden turned down a request to talk with a Fox television Channel television correspondent. The president’s Super Bowl interview is typically announced five or more days in advance of the game.

Biden’s decision to forego the interview is intriguing in a number of ways. If Joe Biden wants to challenge Donald Trump in November, he must find a method to increase his polling ratings. Biden is one of the least popular sitting presidents in history.

Biden shouldn’t believe that by outlining his policies in an interview, he can win over swing voters. What would the media have said if Trump had declined to take part in a Super Bowl pregame interview?

Biden’s choice to turn down the Super Bowl-watching public comes during a week of turmoil both at home and abroad. This Tuesday, the US reacted against organizations backed by Iran in reaction to an attack that claimed the lives of three US soldiers in Jordan over the weekend.

Biden seems to have no interest in participating in the Super Bowl. When football season rolls around, it will be fascinating to see if Biden feels bad about turning away millions of voters during the Super Bowl pregame.
