Evan Engram on End of Jaguars Season: ‘It Stings Every Sunday These Playoff Games Come On

This week, Engram learned that, following Travis Kelce’s replacement, he would be joining the NFL’s elite in Orlando as a Pro Bowler, after setting a record with 100 receptions in 2023.

Engram enjoyed a fantastic weekend as well, managing to score a touchdown in the Pro Bowl flag football match. However, the intention was to never be available this weekend, as Engram stated this past weekend. And if the Jaguars hadn’t lost five of their final six games following an 8-3 start, Engram could have been able to avoid the games entirely.

Yes. Every Sunday when these playoff games air, it hurts. Being here is not the aim. Engram stated this week, “You should be preparing for next week.”

However, I believe it will be beneficial and a wonderful learning experience for us. It will definitely humble us and move us in the correct way, in my opinion.

Engram was the 35th Pro Bowler in franchise history and the second tight end (after TE Marcedes Lewis, 2010) to be selected for the Pro Bowl.

Jaguars long snapper Ross Matiscik and outside linebacker Josh Allen, who attended their first and second Pro Bowl games, respectively, also joined Engram this week.

Engram has 114 receptions in 2023, accounting for 963 receiving yards and four touchdowns. In addition to setting team records for receptions and receiving yards in a season by a tight end, his 114 catches led all NFL tight ends. Engram became the first tight end in franchise history to surpass 100 receptions and the eighth tight end in NFL history. Engram was selected to the team after the 2020 season, and this is his second Pro Bowl trip.

It is evident that our efforts to safeguard the football were inadequate. That needs to improve. The run game has to be improved without a doubt. Since I am a part of it too, I say that with my chest. Improve your run game efficiency and consistency. Indeed, there are numerous areas in which we need to improve.”
