According to a source who spoke with PFT, Deshea Townsend is joining the Lions as their cornerbacks coach and coordinator of the defensive passing game.

Townsend, 48, worked as the Jaguars’ defensive backs coach and coordinator of passing plays for the last two seasons. He has one college stop under his belt and has coached for four additional NFL teams.
Townsend concluded his playing career in Indianapolis in 2010 after spending nine years as a cornerback for the Steelers from 1998 to 2009. In Arizona the next year, he started his coaching career.
Townsend coached cornerbacks for Mississippi State from 2013 to 2015 and as an assistant defensive backs coach for the Cardinals from 2011 to 2012. Prior to moving to Jacksonville, he served as a coach with the Titans (2016–17), Giants (2018), and Bears (2019–21).
