Kevin Durant passes Carmelo Anthony for 9th on all-time scoring list.
Suns forward Kevin Durant hits free throw to reach 9th with 25,290 career points, with Shaquille O’Neal next up.
With a fourth-quarter free throw in Houston, Suns forward Kevin Durant passed Carmelo Anthony for 9th on the all-time scoring list.
Durant finished the game with 28 points (10-22 FGs, 1-7 3PM) to land on 28,296 for his career. A Phoenix comeback came up just short in Friday’s 114-110 loss to the Rockets.
Next up – and well within season’s reach – is Shaquille O’Neal, at 28,596. Averaging 28.1 ppg in Year 16 since being drafted No. 2 overall in 2007, a healthy Durant should surpass O’Neal in roughly 11 games, mid-to-late March.
