Josh Allen was praised by recently hired Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, who expressed his excitement about working with the player in the next campaign.

I’m eager to collaborate with him because I’ve only heard positive things. I spoke with Josh, and he was excellent. That will be resolved, he will return and resume his activities, and hopefully his condition will improve,” Nielsen stated last week.

“If we can just improve that much next year, what does that look like? That’s the ultimate goal. That is quite thrilling. We want to strive for that,” he continued.

Josh Allen has expressed his preference to remain in Jacksonville on several occasions. At about $18 million, according to Spotrac, the Jacksonville Jaguars have very little cap space, so keeping Allen around for the long run might not be as simple as it first appears.

Why the Jacksonville Jaguars should pay Josh Allen

Josh Allen keeps getting better every year, and 2023 is no exception. The Kentucky graduate recorded a franchise-high 17.5 sacks last season, along with 66 tackles—17 of which were for losses—one interception, one pass defensed, and two forced fumbles.

His camp may be able to negotiate a $30 million contract, but there’s a good chance he’ll wind up earning more than Joey Bosa and TJ Watt, who play for the Los Angeles Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively, for $27 and $28 million annually. That would be a significant pay increase for him.

Josh Allen stated earlier this month that he is determined to be paid for his work, whether it is in Jacksonville or somewhere else, since he recognizes that the NFL is a business.

At the Pro Bowl Games, Allen remarked, “What I’ve come to understand is that the NFL is a business at the end of the day.” You will be kicked out of it if you handle it or give it any thought at all. It’s “Let’s talk business” for me.

Jacksonville Jaguars GM vows to keep Josh Allen

Trent Baalke, the general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars, stated emphatically a few weeks ago during the team’s end-of-season press conference that he would do all in his power to retain Josh Allen.

Trent Baalke, general manager of the Jaguars, speaks with the media on Thursday, April 20, 2023, during a pre-draft luncheon.

The two-time Pro Bowler would have to wear a franchise tag, which would make Calvin Ridley’s return to the team more difficult, but it is the most likely scenario for it to occur.
