Jaguars GM drops crucial update on you Trevor Lawrence contract extension talks

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence are now recovering from what was a quite peculiar 2023 NFL season. The Jaguars had a great start to the season and appeared to be certainties to make the postseason. However, a combination of injuries to Lawrence and other players, along with a decline in performance that seemed to come from everywhere, prevented Jacksonville from returning to the postseason, where they had made it to the second round the year before.

However, there’s no denying Lawrence’s position as the team’s franchise quarterback going forward; in fact, the Jaguars are starting negotiations with the former Clemson Tiger on a contract extension that would keep Lawrence wearing the team’s uniform.
According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe during an episode of The Insiders, Trent Baalke, general manager of the Jaguars, stated, “We’ve started discussions” (via Adam Stites of USA Today). Nothing about this occurs suddenly. The two of us will put in a lot of effort to try to get anything done.

Doug Pederson, the coach of the Jaguars, appears to have complete faith in Trevor Lawrence.
