Rob Gronkowski Explains How He Pretended to Be Retired to Avoid Playing for the Lions

Rob gronkowski was widely regarded as the best tight end in the league and arguably the best tight end to ever play the sport during his career, winning four super bowl titles as he ended his career with the tampa bay buccaneers.

Although he made up the bulk of his success with the new england patriots, winning three of his four super bowls under head coach bill belichick, things didn’t go well for the two teams as the team tried to trade him to the detroit lions.

Gronkowski acted like he was leaving the nfl in order to void the trade to the lions, which actually worked and was ironic, since he eventually joined the buccaneers to win another championship playing with longtime teammate tom brady.

Through fox sports: nfl, gronkowski recently talked about how he came to the conclusion of his time with the lions after being traded to the lions. Gronkowski said, “i’m retired, how can you trade me?” he said, reminiscing about this humbling moment.

Belichick made a classic move by moving off a veteran star before they fell apart, as he attempted to move the future hall of famer to detroit in the same way he wanted to move brady.

Belichick’s tactics obviously didn’t work, as the patriots were never the same without brady and gronkowski, which culminated in him being fired after this season.

Gronkowski and brady had the last laugh as they captured a championship with the buccaneers before calling it a career.
