In August 2022, Craig Roh received a colon cancer diagnosis; he chose to remain silent about the news and his treatment.

After battling colon cancer for 18 months, Craig Roh, a former star football player at the University of Michigan, passed away on February 26 at the age of 33. His wife, Chelsea Roh, made the announcement on X, a platform that was originally Twitter.

On the social media site, she posted, “God brought Craig home.” “Craig did not make much of his battle public.”

In August 2022, physicians found that Craig Roh had stage 4 colon cancer, according to a GoFundMe campaign Chelsea Roh uploaded. The GoFundMe stated that the funds raised will assist Chelsea Roh and her son Max with covering his schooling as well as his medical bills.

According to the GoFundMe, “in typical Craig fashion, he did not want the attention to be on him and did not want to go public with his diagnosis and battle.” “Craig remained strong until the very end, despite everything from chemotherapy to targeted therapy to clinical trials at MD Anderson and in Honduras.”

Colon cancer in young people

A new research from the American Cancer Society states that the most common cause of cancer-related fatalities among males under 50 is colon cancer.

Americas and Globally

Senior vice president of surveillance and healthy equitable science at the American Cancer Society and lead author of the study Dr. Ahmedin Jemal expressed alarm in a press statement about the “continuously sharp increase in colorectal cancer among young Americans.” “This trend needs to be stopped and reversed.”

For reasons that are yet unclear to scientists, colorectal cancer has become more common in young individuals during the past few decades.

“The short answer is we don’t fully understand why it is happening,” Cleveland Clinic director of the Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer Center Dr. David Liska stated to TODAY.com in the previous year. “We are aware that it is taking place, and it has been for at least the past 20 years.”

A passion for family, God, and sports

Craig Roh started playing basketball and football when he was around six years old, and he eventually focused only on football, according to his GoFundMe page. In his second year in high school, he started as a varsity defensive end.
