The lions and amon-ra st. brown are close to completing a contract extension, according to a recent survey.

Amon-ra st. brown will be one of the nfl’s highest-paid wide receivers on the detroit lions’ offseason roster. Dave birkett of the detroit free press announced last week that the two sides were due to meet at the nfl combine.

The lions and st. brown are close to a deal, according to dianna russini of the athletic (subscription required). “wr amon st. brown and the detroit lions are close to signing a deal to keep the young star receiver in detroit.”

He is expected to make around $26 to $28 million per season, placing him at the top of the market for his career. Tyreek hill earns a position-best $30 million per year.”

Espn’s dan graziano wrote the same about where the price of st. brown’s contract extension is expected to be in the region of $26-$28 million per year in his notes from the combine. Russini’s comment that a deal is close isn’t new.

Will Amon-Ra St. Brown’s deal get done this week?

In 2024, the last year of his rookie contract, st. brown is expected to earn around $3.3 million in base income. A new deal would certainly raise his $3.5 million cap to some extent this year, and he’ll certainly earn more money.

Before free agency begins next week, the lions aren’t necessarily pressing to get a deal done with st. brown. But, in terms of rewarding him for what he’s achieved in his first three seasons by raising his salary for this year and then extending him for what is likely to be four more years, it could be time to lock in where his cap hit will be sooner rather than later.

Justin jefferson and ja’marr chase are also expected to reach the top of the wide receiver market by the end of the year with their pending deals.

With the momentum that has been building over the past week, as well as russini’s latest study, it could only be a matter of days before a contract extension for st. brown is announced.
