Before Dalton Schultz left the Dallas Cowboys in 2023 to sign with the Houston Texans, he was unaware of the distractions he and the players had to deal with in Arlington. Speaking candidly about his time with Dallas, Schultz compared the environment to that of a zoo.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday, Schultz stated, “You think it’s normal then you come to a place like [Houston].””

“While lifting weights in the gym, there are people literally going on tours, and they have this kind of one-way mirror that people can look in.” People are really banging on glass to grab people’s attention while they perform power cleans or other tasks. It’s like being in a zoo.”

Whether they are on the field or not, the Cowboys, as “America’s Team,” will always draw a lot of attention. That so, it should not be shocking to learn what Schultz just told McAfee. From 2018 to 2022, Schultz was a member of the Cowboys’ roster. During that time, he caught 211 passes on 301 targets for 2,122 receiving yards and 17 touchdown grabs. Following his time with the Cowboys, he inked a $6.25 million one-year contract with the Texans.

After being selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Schultz appears to have impressed the Texans, who signed him in March to a $36 million, three-year extension deal as one of CJ Stroud’s key weapons.
