Throughout his career, Moseley has struggled with injuries, but when healthy, he has been an extremely effective player, giving up a quarterback rating of 69.8 in his final two seasons in San Francisco.

During that time, it was the eighth-best in the league. However, he also suffered an ACL tear in the 2022 campaign, which prompted him to sign a one-year contract in Detroit this past winter.

The Lions suffered as a result of that failing to function. After starting the season as Moseley’s replacement, Jerry Jacobs was eventually benched in favor of Kindle Vildor, a midseason addition who ended up being involved in two of the most memorable plays of the campaign, including Brandon Aiyuk’s 51-yard reception that bounced off Vildor’s face in the NFC Championship game.

Detroit, which ranked 27th overall against the pass, is now searching this offseason for further assistance at outside cornerback.

Although Brad Holmes, general manager, will give Moseley another opportunity to enter the picture, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him devote more first-round picks or premium resources to the position.

Moseley re-signed with Detroit last week, joining tight end Shane Zylstra, kicker Michael Badgley, and special teams ace Jalen Reeves-Maybin.

On Monday, the window for free-agency negotiations opens, and on March 13, the signing period starts.
