Char-ron Dorsey, a former offensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys, passed away on Monday as a result of stroke complications. 46 was his age.

Dorsey taught youth football programs in his hometown of Jacksonville after a football career that included a college national title at Florida State and a two-season NFL stint with the Cowboys and Houston Texans.

For the last twenty years, Dorsey’s football coach at Terry Parker High School, Michael Holloway, verified his passing to the Florida Times-Union.

“I’m finding it difficult to express my feelings regarding my brother,” Holland stated to the Times-Union. “Up until now, we have been doing this for a very long time. We observe that children we once coached are now either parenting or coaching. Numerous children who have had the chance to advance to the next level have benefited from his influence.

As a right lineman, Dorsey was a part of Florida State’s 1999 undefeated national championship squad and was named an All-ACC selection. The Seminoles star was selected by the Texans in 2002 as they were expanding after being selected by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2001 draft. A year later, knee surgery put a sad end to his promising NFL career.

Following his playing career, Dorsey began working as a coach in Jacksonville at middle and high schools. As a defensive tackle at The Bolles School, he was named an all-state selection.
