Surprises for birthdays usually have a good connotation, but not in this instance. The Jacksonville Jaguars cut defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi on his 29th birthday.

The news arrives two hours after the Jaguars wished the defensive player a happy birthday on X, which exacerbates the situation.

The Jaguars will save $3.5 million in cap space as a result of this transaction. Fatukasi still has $9.3 million in dead money because of his $30 million, three-year deal with a $20 million guarantee.

In 2022, Fatukasi moved to Jacksonville as a free agent after playing for the New York Jets for his first three seasons.

The lineman appeared in 30 games over his two seasons with the Jaguars, recording 48 tackles, 1.5 sacks, eight stuffs, and four passes defended.

Fatukasi has amassed 163 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 33 stuffs, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery over the course of his five-year career.

The former star player for UConn is currently searching for his next job and a better thirty years old as he enters free agency.
