Returning to his home state, the veteran receiver inked a three-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Raised in Ferdinanda Beach, approximately 35 miles north of Jacksonville, Davis attended the University of Central Florida for his college education. Following the announcement of his new deal on March 11, Davis discussed his plans to return to his native state.

Davis and the Jaguars reached an agreement on a three-year, $39 million contract worth up to $50 million in incentives, as reported by Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

Even though the Jaguars managed to escape going bankrupt, Patra stated that Davis will now receive a large payment.

In terms of annual average, the $13 million contract presently ranks 23rd among all wideouts. Patra noted, “This is a fairly level-headed deal at a time in free agency when contracts can get loopy.”

Reportedly satisfied with the arrangement, Davis informed the Orlando Sentinel he was eager to go back to his native state.

“I’ll be playing for Jacksonville when I get back home. It’s significant. Making $13 million to $16 million annually is good, according to Davis.

During his erratic stint in Buffalo, Davis had extended periods of inconsistency interspersed with moments of brilliance. Davis was held without a catch in four of the final eight games of the 2023 season as the Bills were winning five straight games to go into the playoffs and capture the AFC East with a season-ending victory over the Miami Dolphins.

In a 2022 divisional-round defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, Davis made his debut with a 200-yard, four-touchdown effort. However, he did not play as well as many had anticipated in the aftermath. Davis totaled 163 receptions for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns during

his four seasons with Buffalo.

Although Davis enjoyed his time as a player in Buffalo, he informed reporters at the end of the last campaign that he was eager to explore his options in free agency.

“Always willing to return” Having played with the Bills for the previous four years, this is my first time here, Davis remarked.

“I adore Buffalo—everything about it is wonderful.” However, I feel that I must go to March and consider the other choices as well; that is the business side of things, and I must take use of it.
When Davis gets to Jacksonville, he will recognize at least one face. As part of a rush of actions to create more than $30 million in cap space, the Jaguars also reached an agreement to terms with former Bills center Mitch Morse, who was released on March 6.

Zay Jones, a wide receiver, was also a member of the Jaguars’ receiving group the previous two seasons. He departed Buffalo the year before Davis was selected in the 2020 NFL Draft. Over the last two seasons, Jones has played in 25 games for the Jaguars, hauling in 116 receptions for 1,144 yards and 7 touchdowns.
