Defensive end help

The 49ers added a pair of veteran defensive ends on Day 1 of the legal negotiating window, including Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos.The 49ers have always prioritized their pass rush when it comes to team-building, and they were virtually without one entering Monday. Neither Floyd nor Gross-Matos moved the needle like Bryce Huff and Brian Burns did with their respective contracts, but they’ll still give the 49ers some quality veteran depth at worst, and a pair of potential high-upside starters at best.

Backup QB

While the quarterback conversation has been quiet for the 49ers this offseason thanks to Brock Purdy’s outstanding 2023 campaign, the need for depth was a glaring one on San Francisco’s roster.

Both Sam Darnold and Brandon Allen, the 49ers backup QBs last season, were slated to hit free agency. Darnold’s return was always unlikely, but San Francisco did manage to retain Allen on a one-year contract.

WR Jauan Jennings tendered

If Jennings neither signs elsewhere nor reaches an extension, he will play out the 2024 season on his one-year tender worth a fully-guaranteed $4.89 million.
