The Dallas Cowboys were on the sidelines during the first week of free agency, watching other NFL clubs shell out large sums of money to get players.

The group did note that investing today might not guarantee success down the road.

Stephen Jones, the executive vice president of the Cowboys, said it simply. The team’s goal in free agency is to minimize spending.

Rather, they prioritize the development of players selected through the draft.

Jones addressed the media when revealing that the PBR World Finals will take place in May at AT&T Stadium.

He expressed his frustration, along with the fans, about the Cowboys’ poor postseason performance in recent years.

However, Jones and the front office expressed confidence that the secret to success is developing players out of the draft and setting up cash for talents like Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons, and CeeDee Lamb.

Speaking of Prescott, Jones was questioned regarding the lawsuit that was filed in response to the quarterback’s recent accusations of sexual assault.

Prescott and the team have spoken, he added. He believes that no long-term deals would be impacted by the legal difficulties.

We seem to be able to film and cut, and Dak has been cooperative.” He is fully committed to working with us and we have had excellent conversations on him and his contract. Additionally, we’ve spoken with Dak personally,” Jones added.

One free agent, veteran linebacker Eric Kendricks, who backed out of an oral agreement with the 49ers, has been signed by the Cowboys.

What the team will do to address the running back position following Tony Pollard’s loss to the Tennessee Titans is yet unknown.
