This offseason, Calvin Ridley created a lot of controversy. Legal manipulation came and went, and it was never clear what became of the receiver. The New England Patriots played their hand with a sizable offer as the Jacksonville Jaguars attempted to hold onto their top receiver. The Tennessee Titans emerged as a dark horse in the competition almost two full days into free agency.

In the end, Ridley signed a massive four-year, $92 million contract with the Titans. The wide receiver is moving on from his time in Jacksonville, but he’s not exactly happy about it. During his initial press conference, Ridley acknowledged his desire to work things out with the Jaguars.

Sincerely, I thought the Titans had a better chance of winning than the Jags, but there were just too many things that weren’t working out for me. Thus, the Titans were my choice, and the money was definitely nice,” Riley informed reporters.

The fact that Ridley had planned to remain in Florida was not exactly a secret. The receiver was raised at Coconut Creek, which is close to Pompano Beach, after being born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As a proud native of Broward County, Ridley would never have left the Sunshine State if given the chance.

The former star player from the University of Georgia is just one of the important additions the Titans made to their offensive line. The Titans added center Lloyd Cushenberry and running back Tony Pollard in addition to Ridley. Alongside recently re-signed wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Ridley will share a receiving room with five-time Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins.

It so happened that Ridley’s last game with the Jaguars was at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, his new home. The game was against the Titans.
