The Dallas Cowboys released a dependable wide receiver target on Friday in an effort to free up salary money for the 2024 campaign.

Following a very quiet first week of free agency, the Cowboys announced a few roster cuts. The addition of linebacker Eric Kendricks was Dallas’ largest signing.

The Dallas Cowboys made a couple of moves on defense

It’s likely that the Cowboys’ plan with Leighton Vander Esch led to Kendricks’ signing. The Cowboys released Vander Esch on Friday afternoon; it is unclear if he will play again. Additionally, they parted ways with a wide receiver, which will free up a position on the roster for an offseason acquisition that may be quite significant.

The Cowboys released Michael Gallup

Per Michael Gehlken with the Dallas News, the Cowboys released Michael Gallup. The release will allow the Cowboys to recoup $9.5 million for the 2024 season.

The Cowboys selected Gallas in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The 28-year-old has 266 receptions for 3,744 yards and 21 touchdown receptions in his NFL career.

Gallup’s release could foreshadow a plan to land another star wide receiver in Dallas to pair with CeeDee Lamb.

The Cowboys could look to trade for Stefon Diggs

Cowboys Released a popular wide receiver to make room for Buffalo Bills WR to pair with CeeDee Lamb

Wide receiver Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills made mysterious adjustments to his social media profile, which may indicate a trade, as was previously mentioned in the GH. Trevon Diggs, the brother of Stefon Diggs, the Cowboys cornerback, encouraged the wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills to try to get out of town during the previous season.

In the offseason, the Cowboys might try to acquire Stefon by trade. According to Jerry Jones, the team is “all-in” on winning a Super Bowl. The extra cash from Gallup’s release might be used by the Cowboys to sign a wide receiver in free agency. Mike Williams, the wide receiver from the Los Angeles Chargers, might be a huge asset to the Cowboys offense in the playoffs, since they will need to score points against strong defenses.
