The Detroit Lions have reportedly created an additional $4.5 million in income cap space by restructuring the contract of cornerback Carlton Davis. 

Following being dealt to Detroit, the crew transformed $6 million of his income into a signing bonus and introduced void years to the contract, in order to unfold out the normal cap hit the crew would incur.
