Right now, head coach Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers are in the midst of what looks to be a crucial offseason for the future of the team.

Following a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58 last month in Las Vegas, Shanahan is currently searching for methods to enhance the 49ers, who should nevertheless be a competitive team in the future.

Naturally, one of the most surprising Super Bowl scenes in recent memory happened early in Super Bowl 58 when defensive hero Dre Greenlaw of the 49ers was jogging from the sidelines onto the field of play in between series when he suffered an Achilles injury.

Given that Greenlaw’s horrific injury will keep him out of the starting lineup for the foreseeable future, it seems likely that the 49ers will look to add another linebacker during the summer.

The most recent information indicates that Lavonte David of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is one of those possible choices.

Lavonte David, a 34-year-old linebacker who made $7.3 million last season and held up admirably, is someone the Buccaneers will probably try to re-sign. San Francisco is a team to keep an eye on if they sign him. Due to Dre Greenlaw’s Achilles injury, the 49ers are considering their options but may not spend as much as they would want, according to recent reports from ESPN’s Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler.

In fact, Lavonte David has produced at a very high rate even at his somewhat older NFL age, so theoretically it would make sense for the 49ers to give him some thought this offseason.
