A vital component of the Detroit Lions’ passing attack is gone.

Josh Reynolds, a wide receiver, and the Denver Broncos have agreed to a two-year contract worth up to $14 million, sources said on Wednesday. After three seasons with the team, he is leaving the Lions.

Reynolds moved to Detroit for the first time in the middle of the 2021 season. After having a difficult season to begin, he was cut by the Tennessee Titans, with whom he had signed in the winter before.

He met up with former colleague Jared Goff while arriving in Detroit. Reynolds played a significant role in the team’s swift rise from the NFC North cellar to the summit. In 2023, he had a breakthrough year, hauling in 40 catches for 608 yards and five touchdowns.

He did, however, have two significant drops in the team’s 34-31 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game.

During his time with the Lions, Reynolds recorded 97 receptions for 1,393 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2017, the Los Angeles Rams selected him in the fourth round of the draft to begin his professional career.

A Key Detroit Lions WR Signs 2 Year Deal With the Denver Broncos

Lions general manager Brad Holmes and coach Dan Campbell stated they were still in contact with Reynolds and were working on a deal to keep him in Detroit during the NFL’s annual league meetings in Orlando.

All-Pro Amon-Ra St. Brown leads the Lions’ wide receiving group, and the team is negotiating an agreement with him to keep him in Detroit for the long run.

Jameson Williams, a wide receiver entering his third NFL season, also seems ready for a breakthrough.

Additionally, earlier in the offseason, Detroit re-signed Donovan Peoples-Jones, who was acquired via trade deadline, to a one-year contract.
