Mac Jones was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week after three seasons with the New England Patriots, and the quarterback has now broken his silence on his exit

Jacksonville Jaguars new quarterback Mac Jones has spoken out about his time with the New England Patriots, saying he wouldn’t change a thing.

Last Sunday, the Patriots agreed to trade Jones to Jacksonville for a 2024 sixth-round pick. The Patriots had been looking for potential trades for the former first-round pick, and it didn’t take long for them to strike a deal with the Jags, who beat three other teams to get Jones.

Jones will now have competition from Trevor Lawrence, the previous first-overall pick, for the position of backup in Jacksonville. In the same year that Jones was chosen by the Pats as the 15th pick, Lawrence was selected first.

Despite the highs and lows throughout his three seasons in New England, Jones stated that he wouldn’t have changed a thing.

“I have no regrets,” Jones declared at his initial press conference. “It seems like I expose everything. That organization received a lot from me, and I contributed a lot to them. Here, I’m going to follow suit.

“I appreciate those guys tremendously up there. I am eternally grateful to my first team, who chose me in the first round. It goes without saying that we kind of just concluded that parting ways was best for both of us.”

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be returning home and moving on for me. And it’s about flipping the page and going forward for them. In other words, that’s essentially what we chose, and I think that was a wise choice.”

In Foxborough, Jones amassed 8,918 passing yards, 46 touchdowns, and 36 interceptions during his tenure with the Patriots. Of particular note was his stellar rookie campaign, which won him a spot in the Pro Bowl.

Speaking on his past, he said, “Many amazing learning opportunities. learned from one of the best head coaches of all time, who was undoubtedly one of the best. I had the good fortune to work with numerous excellent head coaches and gained a lot of knowledge. played numerous games. began numerous games.”

“Clearly, events unfolded as they did. Restoring the train to its rails was my aim. Here, I believe I can pull it off.

Things in Jacksonville might get intriguing if Jones can take Lawrence on during training camp and demonstrate that he still has what it takes to be a starter. After a very strong second season, Lawrence did not make the expected lead in year three. The former Clemson standout has one year remaining on his rookie contract, with a basic salary of $2.785 million (£2.17 million), should the Jaguars decide against picking up his fifth-year option.
