Since NFL free agency began earlier in March, owner Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have been the subject of intense scrutiny.

Jones had stated that the Cowboys were planning to “go all in” this offseason after their devastating loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFL Wild Card Playoffs.

Since the start of free agency more than two weeks ago, that has not at all been the case. As a matter of fact, Dallas’ $11.13 million in free agency spending this offseason is league-low. Dorance Armstrong, Tyler Biadasz, Tony Pollard, Dante Fowler Jer, Jonathan Hankins, Neville Gallimore, and Tyron Smith are among the players the franchise has lost to free agency.

Dak Prescott and his $55.46 million salary cap charge for the 2024 campaign are major factors in this. Before free agency, Dallas was unable to reach an agreement with him on an extension, which led to significant cap problems when the new league year began.

Legendary Dallas Cowboy Dez Bryant blasts Jerry Jones for his most recent remarks.

This was stated by Jones during the NFL meetings earlier this week. “I feel better than I have in a long time heading into the offseason.”

Dez Bryant, a former Cowboys player, had a succinct reply to Jones’ remarks. To put it another way, it was everything but subtle.

This must be the same emotion that Cowboys supporters are experiencing right now all throughout the world. The sole noteworthy free agent addition for Dallas was Eric Kendricks, a former All-Pro linebacker. After opting out of a contract with the rival San Francisco 49ers, he chose to sign with the Cowboys.

Dallas either has new starters at wide receiver, left tackle, left guard, center, running back, defensive tackle, linebacker, and free safety, or needs to replace those positions before the NFL Draft begins.

This is not the best situation for a club that wants to be a real contender for the Super Bowl. Bryant seems to concur.
