It appears that the Panthers may be interested in Stephon Gilmore

In free agency, the Dallas Cowboys have been apathetic. March is coming to a finish, and the Cowboys have brought back a number of players while only signing linebacker Eric Kendricks as an external free agency.

Jourdan Lewis, the Cowboys’ cornerback, is maybe the most important returning player. Many were unsure about who would start at nickel corner for the team because DaRon Bland, who had a completely different appearance this season, flourished while Trevon Diggs was recovering from an injury. As he did last season, Lewis takes that position.

However, Bland was supposed to be a slot corner when 2023 got underway and only went outside following Diggs’ injury.

Some fans were curious as to whether Dallas had decided to forgo Gilmore and go on without him after learning that Lewis would be returning for a second season. That might not be the case, but if it isn’t, they had best go to work because it appears that Gilmore might find love soon.

Jadeveon Clowney desires to play with the Carolina Panthers alongside Stephon Gilmore.

Former first-round pick and seasoned pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney found a new home this past week—this time with the Carolina Panthers.

As Clowney was a great star at South Carolina, he is somewhat returning home. Not surprisingly, he attended high school in the state, so it’s easy to understand why he could have considered the Panthers.

Stephon Gilmore might be justified along these similar lines of reasoning. Gilmore traveled to South Carolina, much like Clowney. Gilmore really attended South Pointe High School, the same state-run institution that Clowney attended. Gilmore was also traded by the New England Patriots to the Panthers during the 2021 season, so he has even played for them in the past.

Gilmore would rejoin the Panthers if it were up to Clowney. It seems that he will try his hardest to bring him home with him.

This information is interesting because Joe Person implies that Clowney stated that Gilmore told him—as in Clowney—that he—as in Gilmore—is attempting to convince the Panthers to bring him—as in Gilmore—back. This news follows the Panthers’ previously announced interest in Gilmore.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but considering that Gilmore has previously played for the Panthers, that does seem plausible. He therefore has a “back” to return to.

Does that imply, though, that Gilmore no longer thinks about the Cowboys? Or is he attempting to establish a market or leverage for his services? In any case, this does not particularly ease the feelings of those who would like to see Stephon back in a Cowboys uniform.
