After agreeing to a three-year agreement for linebacker Foye Oluokun, the Jacksonville Jaguars have added another important member to their defense.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that the contract is for $45 million over four years, with $22.5 million guaranteed at signing.

After Tremaine Edmunds of Chicago, Fred Warner of San Francisco, and Roquan Smith of Baltimore, Oluokun is now the fourth-highest paid inside linebacker in the NFL as a result of the deal.

Patrick Queen, who recently inked a three-year, $41 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, trails Oluokun by a small margin.

With 173 total tackles, 10 quarterback hits, eight tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and an interception, Oluokun’s second season with the Jaguars was successful.

With 173 tackles, he was fourth in the league behind Alex Singleton (177), Bobby Wagner (183), and Zaire Franklin (179).

Oluokun’s rise to the position of fourth-highest paid inside linebacker in the NFL is a significant departure from his beginnings. The Atlanta Falcons selected the former Yale standout in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

With the Falcons after four successful seasons, Oluokun was signed by the Jaguars in 2022. In his debut season with the black and teal, he led the league in tackles (184) and got off to a quick start in Jacksonville.
