There may be a new, long-lasting conference rivalry between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers.

Jordan Love appears to be the Packers’ next franchise quarterback. Leading the San Francisco 49ers, led by 24-year-old Brock Purdy, to the Super Bowl was recently accomplished.

For the better part of the upcoming ten years, the two teams may face off in the playoffs. Today, it was reported that the 49ers signed a former Packers running back.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Patrick Taylor, a former running back for the Green Bay Packers, has agreed to a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers.

After Taylor participated in 34 games for the team over three seasons, the Packers decided not to tender him to a restricted contract.He was therefore a free agent without restrictions in 2024.

The Packers made a number of off-season transactions, including trading Aaron Jones for Josh Jacobs, re-signing A.J. Dillon, and tendering exclusive rights free agent Emanuel Wilson to play running back.

San Francisco 49ers signs former Green Bay Packers running back in one year deal

Taylor had career highs in snaps and touches in 2023 with 226 snaps and 43 touches (32 rushing, 11 receiving).

The Packers most likely plan to use the draft to add more running back depth once Taylor leaves for San Francisco.

In 2020, Taylor was an undrafted free agent out of Memphis who was signed by the Packers. He ran the ball 65 times for 261 yards and one score while playing with the Packers. He also caught 14 receptions for 69 yards on 20 targets. During his tenure, he participated in 276 special teams snaps and 322 offensive snaps.
