Throughout Parsons’ tenure with the team, Dallas has never made it to the playoffs.
Any ardent Dallas Cowboys fan will tell you with all of their might that Micah Parsons is one of the best players in the game right now.
Considering the linebacker’s exceptional performances during his three years in the league, this view is warranted. Unstoppable on defense, Parsons constantly causes coaches and players on the other team headaches with his overpowering play. Cowboys supporters are excited to see the 24-year-old play again, but new reports indicate Parsons might not be as enthusiastic.
According to 105.3 The Fan’s Shan Shariff, there are concerns that Parsons is becoming disenchanted with the organization.
“I’ve heard from multiple sources this offseason,” Shariff reported.
“It has been reported by at least four people that Micah is experiencing tension there. How much of this is true is unknown, as is the potential effect on his reputation. It’s also uncertain if this fits the profile of an average superstar.
“But what I can say is this, too many people have indicated that if Micah Parsons were to depart, there would be a fair number of folks inside the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco who would either smile or breathe a sigh of relief.”
Could Parsons leave Dallas?
Shariff made these comments during a difficult time for the linebacker.Micah Parsons has come under fire after Dallas had yet another postseason setback. Not only have media sources criticized the Cowboys’ on-field performance, but former NFL players have also taken aim at Parsons.
Following the Cowboys’ January Wild Card loss that ended the season, former receiver Jesse Holley called Parsons “selfish.”
“To me, Micah Parsons is probably the most self-centered player on this football team,” Holley said.
Micah Parsons does not want to play linebacker in part because the position entails an excessive amount of responsibilities. Maybe it’s just the joy of youth. I firmly think Micah wants greatness for himself alone, and he refuses to put in the work or the effort.”
Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Bart Scott questioned Parsons’ ability to lead in February.
“He lacks leadership,” Scott stated.
It is unclear to him what it takes to succeed in this league. Is he a fantastic player? Yes, but being a great player does not equate to becoming a great leader.
You might be wondering why Parsons is still brought up frequently in conversations given all the attention and rumors that are circulating. Is it because he plays for the Cowboys? Is it the pressure to perform at a high level as one of the best pass rushers in the NFL? Or could it be that Parsons constantly shields himself and his teammates from the commotion?
Whatever the cause, Parsons’ influence on the field is an indisputable reality. Though opinions of the linebacker may differ, Micah Parsons continues to be a major factor in the Cowboys’ ability to compete in the postseason. The 24-year-old last year had 64 total tackles (36 solo, 28 assisted) and 14.0 sacks in 17 regular-season starts.
The three-time Pro Bowler has 213 total tackles (142 solo, 71 assisted), eight passes defended, seven forced fumbles, and 40.5 sacks over his three seasons with the Cowboys.
In his first season, he won Defensive Rookie of the Year, and he was a finalist for the Defensive Player of the Year Award the previous two seasons.
That’s just the cost of being famous—the rumors and chatter will never stop. Nevertheless, Michah Parsons is still a Cowboy and should have another fantastic season with the team in 2024 until an official announcement is made.
