Kobbie Mainoo scored his first professional goal at Old Trafford as Manchester United failed to capitalize on a late lead against Liverpool, but Mo Salah made sure the visitors got a point.
The young player for Manchester United, Kobbie Mainoo, has expressed regret for his celebration following his team’s goal in their draw with Liverpool.
Following an equalizing goal from Bruno Fernandes, the 18-year-old midfield sensation gave United the lead in the second half. After Aaron Wan-Bissaka passes the ball to Mainoo, he turns deftly to open his body and curl the ball past Caoimhin Kelleher from just inside the area.
Liverpool led 1-0 at the interval after the Red Devils had been outplayed and failed to register a shot in the first forty-five minutes of play. When Mainoo’s shot found the net in the first twenty minutes of the second half, there was a full turnaround and celebration.
But the recently capped England player was having his celebrations before most people. Even before the ball entered the net, the youngest player to score a Premier League goal against Liverpool, was overcome with emotion.
It was unquestionably a significant occasion for Mainoo, who apologized excessively. “Yeah, it felt good so I got ahead of myself,” he stated. Apologies.
“Unbelievable feeling, first professional goal at Old Trafford, and to do it in this fixture is also amazing,” the teenage sensation continued. I can’t be really pleased because we don’t finish up with the three points.”
With his penalty in the 84th minute, Mo Salah denied United all three points. Wan-Bissaka tackled Harvey Elliott inside the area, giving the Egyptian an opportunity to score right away.
Mainoo thinks his squad needs to correct minor errors that are severely hurting the team’s chances of winning. United has let up late points in a game when they were leading for the third time in a row.
Mainoo is undoubtedly dissatisfied, even though many may view a draw against title-challengers Liverpool as a successful outcome.
“I’m kind of disappointed [that we only got a point], because I thought we played really well in the second half,” he stated. We took it up, and the boys put in a tremendous amount of effort. In the end, small errors turned into big ones. We can win the game if we get these issues out.”
