We ran a simulation of Sunday’s Premier League match between Man Utd and Liverpool to see what would transpire between the bitter rivals.

Manchester United will be trying to make amends with three points against Liverpool today after experiencing late heartbreak against Chelsea on Thursday.

In their most recent Premier League match, United lost 4-3 to Chelsea despite taking the lead in the 99th minute thanks to two goals from Cole Palmer far too late. Erik ten Hag’s team is now 11 points outside of the top four in the Premier League. This is the second time in a week that United has lost late in games, and Ten Hag’s team will face Liverpool today in an even more difficult test.

The previous time the two teams faced off, Amad scored in the 121st minute to help United win 4-3 and earn a trip to the FA Cup semifinals. Just a few days after Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof were ruled out, Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane also sustained injuries against Chelsea, dealing Ten Hag some possible defensive blows ahead of the match.

We ran a simulation of Sunday's Premier League match between Man Utd and Liverpool to see what would transpire b

We utilized EA FC 24 to finish the simulation, updating the squads with the most recent suspensions and injuries. Our prediction is that United will line up in a 4-3-3 configuration, looking like this:Onana; Mainoo, McTominay, Fernandes; Antony, Hojlund, Garnacho; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Amrabat.

Our prediction is that Liverpool will start with the following lineup: Keleher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz. Liverpool could also adopt a 4-3-3 formation.

Similar to the FA Cup match a few weeks prior, United got off to a strong start, forcing Caoimhin Kelleher to make a few saves in the first 20 minutes. Liverpool made it 1-0 just after the half, but United was unable to build on their early dominance.

The Colombian player sent a pass into the middle after Luis Diaz beat his man down the left, where Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister traded passes to drive forward into the middle. Darwin Nunez went past Harry Maguire with ease after Mac Allister saw his run, and the Reds took the lead thanks to a calm close-range goal.

Mohamed Salah has made a habit of scoring against United since his arrival on Merseyside, and he should’ve doubled the lead in the 41st minute when his well-timed run was picked out by Virgil van Dijk, but one-on-one, his shot was weak and easily saved by Andre Onana. A bit like United in the opening stages, Liverpool were made to pay for their collection of missed chances, with Ten Hag’s side drawing level on the stroke of half-time.

Kobbie Mainoo picked out Rasmus Hojlund’s explosive run forward with a wonderful long pass as the striker beat the high line as Liverpool were dispossessed on the brink of the United area. Hojlund took the ball in stride after a superb first touch, and his effort went high into the top corner to tie the score at one.

Both teams became more careful with the ball as the game was close, and neither was prepared to take any chances. Three points are essential to Liverpool’s championship aspirations, and the Reds scored the game-winning goal in the ninetieth minute.
