After Serie A team Atalanta defeated Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday night, Rasmus Hojlund was ecstatic.

The Manchester United player, who cost ÂŁ70 million to move from the Italian squad to Old Trafford last summer, seems to continue to monitor his team’s results.

Gianluca Scammaca, a former West Ham striker, scored twice as Atalanta shocked Anfield, 3-0, leaving Jurgen Klopp incensed and Liverpool’s chances of qualifying for Europe in ruins.

Hojlund celebrated his previous team’s win on social media, which was perhaps made even more enjoyable by Manchester United’s intense rivalry with Liverpool.

Both Hojlund and United have recently enjoyed remarkable victories over Liverpool; the Dane was the driving force behind their incredible FA Cup comeback win and the ensuing 2-2 Premier League draw.

Following Liverpool’s crushing defeat against Serie A team Atalanta in the Europa League, Rasmus Hojlund was ecstatic.

Hojlund shared a photo of the scoreline on social media after Atalanta’s triumph, writing the words “Mola Mia” next to an emoji of a lion.

The remark is a regional expression in the Italian region of Bergamo, where Hojlund previously resided for less than a year before relocating to Manchester and where Atalanta is situated.

It is an encouraging phrase that means “never give up” in most languages and is seen all around Bergamo, in the northern region of Italy.

Hojlund immediately shared a photo of the scoreline on social media with the phrase “Mola Mia” following Atalanta’s triumph.

Prior to joining Manchester United, Hojlund was at Atalanta for less than a year.

Hojlund only made 34 appearances in all competitions during his brief tenure in the Italian top flight, but his standout play won him a transfer to Old Trafford.

Liverpool supporters were let down by Atalanta’s dominance in the Europa League match, as neither of their three goals was answered by the home team.

The result dealt a huge blow to Klopp’s hopes of a fairytale ending at Liverpool before he leaves the club in the summer, as the Reds have also fallen from top spot in the Premier League recently.

Liverpool must now try to reverse the deficit when they travel to the Gewiss Stadium for the second leg next week.
