Arsenal lost the opportunity to overtake Liverpool as the Premier League’s top team when Liverpool lost at Crystal Palace. It implies that Man City is leading the title race once more.

Arsenal had an open door as Liverpool faltered. Mikel Arteta’s team would have gone one point ahead in the title fight with a victory over Aston Villa.

Although it’s not much of an advantage, Liverpool is the best person to tell you that’s all you need. But the pressure got to the Gunners, and they withered.

Unai Emery’s team won 2-0 thanks to late goals from Ollie Watkins and Leon Bailey. This season, no one has hurt Arsenal more than their old manager, as Villa has defeated the Gunners in the league.

And with that, the Premier League title race appears to have suddenly shifted toward a well-known and foreseeable conclusion. With six games left, Manchester City leads the table by a two-point margin.

Unfortunately, Arsenal’s loss merely confirms what a lot of Liverpool supporters already knew. There was always the sense that if the Reds won all of their remaining games, they would become champions, even if the Gunners were ahead on goal differential until today.

Out of the three title contenders, Arsenal’s was by far the most challenging schedule. It appeared inevitable that they would be the ones to lose points if anyone was going to.

At the beginning of the season, any Liverpool supporter would have taken your arm off for it. If you defeat teams like Everton, Fulham, and Crystal Palace, you should have no trouble winning an unexpected championship.

However, the Reds’ aspirations might have been dashed by that initial obstacle. It got even more agonizing, as if the 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace wasn’t bad enough.

Liverpool now finds itself in the well-known scenario of requiring City to lose ground. We all know how that generally ends, and based on their upcoming schedule, Pep Guardiola’s weekend seems to have gone extremely well.
