Pep Guardiola has been speaking about the Premier League title race. Man City moved ahead on Saturday but Liverpool and Arsenal can both hit back later today.

After Manchester City beat Luton Town 5-1 to move top of the Premier League table, it was inevitable that Pep Guardiola would be asked about Liverpool and Arsenal. Jürgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta’s sides are both in action later today.

Liverpool is first up, taking on Crystal Palace at Anfield, before Arsenal hosts Aston Villa. Manchester City is ahead by two points having played a game more, but that lead is not likely to last for long.

Guardiola knows that his team has the most hectic schedule and that the margins are slim. Its Premier League matchup with Spurs has been postponed. Instead, his team will play Chelsea in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley the following Saturday. That might give Arsenal and Liverpool the opportunity to get ahead and put more pressure on his team to maintain pace.

During his post-match press conference at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, Guardiola stated, via the Premier League’s official website, “I said to the players how incredible it is to be here again.” There are still 18 points to be gained. Play the FA Cup next Saturday to go to the final and the opportunity to advance to the semi-final against Real Madrid.

Liverpool.com says: It must be a strange feeling for Manchester City at the moment. Even if it puts together one of its usual runs at the end of the season and just keeps winning game after game, Liverpool and Arsenal could both still finish ahead of Guardiola’s side.

In terms of Liverpool, the Reds just have to put in a good performance against Crystal Palace today. A win and a display that suggests they have put the midweek disappointment behind them and that it was a one-off would set up the run-in nicely. Anything less than that, though, would be a big concern given the lack of any margin for error at this stage.
