One of the most well-known and illustrious NFL teams, the Dallas Cowboys, have used quarterback Dak Prescott as their signal-caller since 2016.

After Tony Romo suffered a back injury during the preseason in 2016, Prescott—a rookie from Mississippi State—became the team’s offensive leader very fast. The six-foot-two, 230-pound gunslinger was voted MVP and won AP Offensive Rookie of the Year after throwing for 3,667 yards and 23 touchdowns against four picks.

Despite winning three Pro Bowls and leading the Cowboys to the postseason five out of eight times, Prescott never gave Romo the job back. Ownership is prepared to sign Prescott to a huge contract since, despite being selected in the fourth round, he has developed into one of the league’s most reliable passers and leads the league in touchdown passes in 2023. But in a Tuesday media appearance, owner Jerry Jones stated that in order to remain in Dallas for the long run, they would need to “diminish” his offensive capabilities. Jones’ remarks, particularly the part where he claimed that Prescott has had a “strong supporting cast since 2016,” infuriated Cowboys supporters.

Cowboys Fans: Frustrated with Jerry Jones

At the team’s yearly pre-draft news conference, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, vice president Stephen Jones, and head coach Mike McCarthy addressed the media.

Jones had a number of instances that begged for thought despite the team’s dearth of quality acquisition, such as complimenting the offseason. But when Jones referred to quarterback Dak Prescott’s supporting cast from 2016 onward as “strong,” it infuriated the Cowboys fans.

That will have to be reduced (supporting cast). That is true. It’s Dak Prescott we want. That concludes it.

The improvement from the previous season showed that there is more. We desire Dak. We believe that more can be done. I wouldn’t even flinch at it, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak.

Cowboys supporters instantly criticized Jones on Twitter (also known as X) for never surrounding Prescott with top talent despite the fact that he was selected in the fourth round of the draft and received the associated salary.

Dallas Cowboys: Wide Receiver Troubles Throughout the YearsJerry Jones infuriated Cowboys fans referred to quarterback Dak Prescott's supporting cast from 2016 onward.

From 2016 to 2019, Prescott played on a four-year, $2.7 million contract. He started every season of his NFL career.

The gunslinger signed a four-year, $160 million contract in 2021 after being franchise-tagged in 2020. But the Dallas Cowboys, especially in the early going, never surrounded Prescott with an excessive quantity of elite quality with their surplus cash.

His main choices throughout his first two seasons were tight end Jason Witten, slot receiver Cole Beasley, and wideout Dez Bryant, all in their twilight years, until the Cowboys traded for Amari Cooper for the 2018 season. But from 2018 to 2019, Cowboys supporters were irritated by the team’s failure to sign a top-tier second receiver.

Through the 2020 draft, Dallas acquired CeeDee Lamb, a talented wide receiver. The following season, Cooper, Prescott, and Lamb performed admirably, but in the off-season, the club dealt Cooper to the Cleveland Browns.

Lamb was backed by Michael Gallup and Noah Brown in 2022, and then the squad brought in an aged Brandon Cooks in 20
