Arik Armstead, a defensive lineman for the Jacksonville Jaguars, appears to be a valuable asset both on and off the field.

The Jaguars have already given the former San Francisco 49er great high marks for his professionalism and leadership throughout his career, even in his early years with the team. And in an interview with 49ers Webzone’s David Bonilla, 49ers linebacker Fred Warner stated that precisely why San Francisco will be feeling the loss of him.

Huge surprise, Warner stated when discussing Armstead’s departure from the 49ers.

We’ve referred to him as the Niner blueprint ever since I arrived. That was the Niner with the longest tenure to date, and he had proven himself time and time again.”

Trent Baalke, general manager of the Jaguars, selected Armstead in the first round in San Francisco in 2015. Armstead has played for the 49ers for the past nine seasons.

Due to injury, Armstead only played in 12 games during the regular season last year, but he somehow ended with five sacks and around sixty pressures.

Armstead played in 116 games over nine seasons, starting 97 of them. He finished with 33.5 sacks, 43 tackles for loss, and 88 quarterback hits.

“I’ve been in this thing long enough where, at this point, nothing surprises me,” Warner stated. “There are choices that must be chosen. When it comes down to it, this is a business. Furthermore, I’m pleased for him and the new chance Jacksonville has given him to go there, thrivefamily.”

It’s clear that we have some very large shoes to fill in that role. Furthermore, one man cannot simply enter the scene and take over as Arik Armstead,” Warner added. To make up for that, the entire team will need to step up their performance. Thus, it is undoubtedly painful to see him go.”
