When the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Brian Thomas Jr., a wide receiver out of LSU, with the 23rd overall choice, they addressed a huge need. Additionally, they gain additional choices upon descending six positions. Now that a critical item has been crossed off the list, the front office can concentrate on completing other roster gaps.

The good news for the Jags is that there is still a ton of talent available on Day 2, so they have a few options to fill the gaps. Here are five guys they ought to aim for on the second day of the draft in light of that.

The Jaguars should target Cooper DeJean on Day 2 of the draft

The first cornerback to go in the first round took a while. As a matter of fact, none had been selected when the Jaguars were ranked No. 17. Quinyon Mitchell was the lone player picked even after they switched back to selection number 23, and that was the previous pick.

Terrion Arnold was then chosen by the Detroit Lions with the 24th overall pick. After the first round, there are still a lot of corners on the board even with those three gone. Nate Wiggins came in at No. 30. Cooper DeJean of Iowa is one of them.

DeJean was expected to go in the first round, but given how packed the field is this year, his drop isn’t all that shocking. The former Iowa Hawkeye has the physical attributes and instincts to play cornerback in the NFL, despite the opinions of some analysts who believe he is better suited to play safety.

DeJean is a formidable opponent at the line of scrimmage because of his size (6’0″ and 203 pounds), and his 40-yard sprint time of 4.42 seconds is nothing to laugh at.

Despite breaking his fibula last year, the consensus 2023 All-American wrote to NFL organizations to say he was cleared to begin practicing.

DeJean still has some time to regain his full strength even if he isn’t at 100%. He would provide talent and depth to Jacksonville’s cornerback room, which is in need of both. The Jaguars might have to move up to get him since he might not be able to make it to pick No. 48.
