What to know about Dallas Cowboys’ third-round draft picks Cooper Beebe, Marist Liufau

Cooper Beebe, an offensive lineman for Kansas State, was chosen by the Dallas Cowboys with the first of their two third-round selections in the 2024 draft on Friday. He was selected with the 73rd overall and ninth pick of the draft. The pick was obtained on Thursday as a part of the deal with the Detroit Lions.

Then, in the third round, the Cowboys selected linebacker Marist Liufau of Notre Dame with the 24th pick, 87th overall.

COOPER BEEBE

School: Kansas State

Round: 3, Pick 73

Height: 6-3 Weight: 322

Hometown: Kansas City, Mo.

What you should know about him: Beebe has received multiple Big 12 and national awards, ranging from consensus All-American to first-team all-conference recognition. He was a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award and a finalist for the Outland Trophy. played 51 games with the Wildcats, 48 of which were starts.

How he fits with the Cowboys: Beebe was selected as the second offensive lineman in two days, and he may be a top reserve or starter on an offensive line that was thinned out by free agent departures.

MARIST LIUFAU

School: Notre Dame

Round: 3, Pick 87

Height: 6-2,Weight: 234

Hometown: Kansas City, Mo.

What you need to know about him: Liufau played for Notre Dame for five years, starting 22 games over his final and graduate seasons. A season-ending injury kept him out of his junior year. Highly sought-after from Hawaii, he attended Punahou High School, the same institution as Manti Te’o.

How he fits with the Cowboys: He adds strength to the linebacker corps, which was left weak by the retirement of Leighton Vander Esch following the 2017 season due to health concerns. Liufau might not start in 2024 because of a healthy DeMarvion Overshown and the addition of Eric Kendrick, but he should play a big role as a vital run stopper.
