Ezekiel Elliott returned to the Dallas Cowboys for a one-year contract, and the former No. 4 overall choice of the team didn’t take long to make a big impression on the fan base.

Elliott shared a straightforward yet impactful message on Twitter/X, saying, “RUN IT BACK.”

It’s normal for athletes to post these kinds of comments on social media right away, but here’s what’s unique about Elliott’s case: You can tell he’s thrilled to be back in Dallas.

Without a doubt, the Cowboys’ 2023 decision to let Elliott go had 90% to do with his financial situation. Please understand that productivity has decreased and thus a stat sheet cannot be contested. The team was confidence in Tony Pollard’s future last year, but Elliott’s large contract at the time was the biggest issue since it didn’t make sense.

The Cowboys had to move on.

But it’s obvious that 21 and his team liked each other in the locker room. Dak Prescott, the quarterback, went so far as to declare he was devastated and that “I can’t imagine taking the field without him,” adding that he had not only grown up with Zeke as a brother but also as a man.

So let’s be real when Zeke sends out a “run it back” tweet. It strikes a bit differently. This is a man who wants to play beside his brother in Dallas and wants to rock that Star once more.

Should supporters gauge what’s expected of them? Indeed, Elliott is not expected to start if Rico Dowdle remains healthy, and the Cowboys will probably take a running back by committee strategy to the game. Still, Zeke’s return to the squad feels good.
