Seeing Ezekiel Elliott back in a Dallas Cowboys uniform makes Micah Parsons thrilled.

Elliott and the Cowboys are getting back together on a $3 million, one-year contract, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Elliott posted a statement on social media following the announcement with the hashtag #RUN IT BACK.

Parsons sent Elliott a brief reply of his own, consisting of only three words.

With a lion emoji, Parsons responded, “Welcome back, king.”

Elliott is No. 3 on the Cowboys’ all-time tally of rushing yards, having played for the team for his first seven seasons. Twice, including in his outstanding debut campaign when he ran for 1,631 yards, he was the league’s leading rusher.

Following their separation over the previous offseason, Elliott signed a contract with the New England Patriots. Despite his lackluster debut season after leaving Dallas, he has the potential to be an important running back committee member. Elliott averaged 3.5 yards per run while rushing for 642 yards on 184 carries. 51 receptions for 313 yards were added by him.

Last season, the Cowboys decided to start Tony Pollard as their lead back. As a change of pace for Elliott, he received more work but was not as effective as he was in prior seasons. On 252 carries, Pollard gained 1,005 yards and 6 touchdowns. But his average yards per carry was a career low of 4.0. Pollard left the Tennessee Titans during the summer.

Ezekiel Elliott Fills Major Need for CowboysThe best course of action for the Cowboys, who were in dire need of running back assistance, was a reunion with Elliott.

According to the Cowboys’ official website, executive vice president and head of player personnel Stephen Jones stated, “Zeke is, as we all know, is one of our favorites.” He has risked everything for this franchise. He’s the best competitor there is, and we have high regard for hi

Dallas lacked a starting-caliber back on the roster after Pollard left. In the draft, the Cowboys also decided without selecting a running back.

Elliott will probably be given the starting tag, but the ground game will be run by a committee on the squad. The team added veteran Royce Freeman and re-signed backup Rico Dowdle. Hunter Luepke, Malcolm Davis, and former sixth-round selection Duke Vaughn will all vie for spots on the running back committee.

Michael Gallup, Former Cowboys Wide Receiver, Signs with Raiders

While Elliott is returning, one of his former teammates has moved on. On Monday, wide receiver Michael Gallup agreed to a one-year contract with the Raiders of Las Vegas. The value of the deal is $3 million, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Gallup was cut by the Cowboys in March in order to clear $9.5 million in salary cap space. Gallup appeared to be headed toward being a vital component of Dallas’ passing attack early in his career.

In his first three seasons, he gained 2,457 yards and 13 touchdowns. But late in the 2021 season, an ACL tear altered his course. In 2022, Gallup agreed to a $57.5 million contract with the Cowboys, but he was unable to fulfill it.

Gallup had 34 catches for 418 yards at the end of the previous season.
