This offseason, trade rumors and the Pittsburgh Steelers have been like Bonnie and Clyde.
Their focus was on the Justin Fields rumors, and they eventually acquired the former Chicago Bears first-round pick. In addition, they sent Diontae Johnson and Kenny Pickett to the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles, respectively, in exchange for a few more components.

There have also been trade speculations involving Pittsburgh to add another receiver to the boundary. The Steelers are reportedly interested in Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, Courtland Sutton, and DK Metcalf and have contacted the teams of each player.

One writer, nevertheless, suggested that the Steelers would send the Seattle Seahawks a trade deal for Metcalf that would be a massive overpay.

The proposal from John Buhler of FanSided was for the Steelers to acquire Metcalf in exchange for George Pickens, first and third round picks in 2025, and second and fourth round picks in 2026.

Pittsburgh Steelers to sign Seattle Seahawks WR DK Metcalf in a Proposed mega deal

There’s no way the Steelers would move Metcalf for this much, or even need to trade this much, given what other receivers have been traded for. In exchange for a 2025 second-round pick, Stefon Diggs was traded. For two Day Three draft picks, Jerry Jeudy was traded.

Donte Jackson and a sixth-round selection were exchanged for Diontae Johnson. When A.J. Brown was traded back in 2022, he was exchanged for first and third-round picks.

The package that the Steelers give up won’t be as large if and when they trade for a receiver.
