Fans are getting pumped for the 2024 season because of the moves the Green Bay Packers have been making this off-season. For most Packers fans, it was difficult to move on from Aaron Jones, but the newest additions made it easier.

The draft filled up significant gaps on the offensive line and defense, with the splash signings being Xavier McKinney and Josh Jacobs. It has come to our attention that the Packers have taken the Dallas Cowboys’ most recent weapon.

Two NFC East teams apparently had their eye on rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd before the Green Bay Packers selected him in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft.

The former USC speedster “thought the Cowboys would be one of the possible teams to draft him,” according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, since the Dallas Cowboys “had shown enough pre-draft love” to him. The New York Giants did not have a choice between Nos. 71 and 107, but they “had [their] sights set on” Lloyd as a potential lead back. He was ultimately selected by the Packers at No. 88.

Lloyd gained 820 yards and nine touchdowns on 116 rushes after moving from South Carolina to USC for the 2023 season. He also added 13 receptions for 232 yards, averaging 17.8 yards per catch.

Josh Jacobs, a two-time Pro Bowl player who played his first five years of his career with the Raiders in Las Vegas, is leading the Packers backfield that Lloyd has joined. A.J. Dillon, an accomplished backup who was about to become a free agent, was also let go by the Packers.

After losing out on Lloyd, the Cowboys decided not to choose a running back with any of their eight selections. Tyrone Tracy Jr., a running back out of Purdue, was chosen by the Giants in the fifth round.
