Cowboys Executive Sends A Clear Message About Dak Prescott

The choice the Dallas Cowboys picked for their new quarterback was highly dubious.

It appears like they’re willing to let Dak Prescott finish out his contract, just when everyone was about to award him a big contract extension.

Some speculate that Jerry Jones purposefully withheld more weapons from him this season in order to put him under pressure to perform well in a contract year. Jones also threatened to fire him and start over if things didn’t work out.

However, Will McClay, vice president of player personnel, disagrees.

The executive stated on SiriusXM NFL Radio that the franchise wants to guarantee that Prescott will be a “Cowboy for life.”

He stated that there are still ongoing negotiations with his camp, and they want to find a middle ground to secure a deal that allows Dak to stay in Arlington for years to come. McClay went on to call him a phenomenal leader and a phenomenal quarterback, adding that no one wants to win more as a Cowboy than Prescott. Despite his long and well-documented list of shortcomings, Dak seems to have full respect and support from his locker room, and he’s the best option the Cowboys have right now.

It will be fascinating to watch how this plays out as the new season draws near. If the Cowboys continue to lowball him or play the waiting game, there may still be several clubs interested in his services in free agency.
