Approaching the 2024 NFL season, the Las Vegas Raiders have an intriguing quarterback situation.

Although experienced quarterback Gardner Minshew was signed by the team in free agency, Aidan O’Connell is expected to start again. It looks like O’Connell will get the first opportunity to land the starting position at this stage.

Antonio Pierce has made no secret of the fact that he believes in his young quarterback. At this point in time, though, there is no assurance that he will be given the starting position.

Some believe that Minshew will end up winning the starting job.

Recently, “Around the NFL Podcast” host Gregg Rosenthal offered his thoughts on the Raiders’ quarterback issue. All things considered, he believes Minshew will ultimately be appointed as the starting position.

“It was unexpected to learn from Antonio Pierce that Aidan O’Connell, a second-year pro, will play quarterback for the first time this offseason.

Although O’Connell showed promise as a fourth-round rookie (better than first-round selection Bryce Young!), it seems like the money speaks louder in this case. On a two-year contract, the franchise awarded Gardner Minshew $15 million with full guarantees.

The Las Vegas Raiders will select the quarterback who provides them the best opportunity to win, notwithstanding his reasonable criticism of Minshew’s higher salary. Pierce is motivated to win this season, and he will not allow politics to influence his choices in any way.

Despite Anthony Richardson’s season-ending injury, Minshew had a successful season with the Indianapolis Colts the previous year. He was selected for the Pro Bowl based on his performance.

Seeing what the Las Vegas Raiders decide to do at quarterback in the end will be interesting. While Minshew is a seasoned veteran who just finished a strong season, O’Connell is a young player who has displayed glimpses of starting ability.

The starting position will be determined throughout training camp and preseason play, as there is fierce competition.

It will be difficult for Pierce and the Raiders to bring the team back into the playoffs. Fortunately, they’re constructing correctly and have a strong roster that should enable them to compete in 2024.
