NFL free agency’s biggest moves have come and gone. The New Orleans Saints were impacted by a recent signing in many ways, though.

Andrus Peat, an experienced offensive lineman, decided to sign with the Raiders in Las Vegas. Did New Orleans try to resurrect him?

The Saints did try to re-sign Andrus Peat, according to GM Mickey Loomis.

Peat made the decision to sign with the Los Vegas Raiders rather to go back to New Orleans. The specifics of his contract with LV are currently unknown.

Nevertheless, once the Saints had a conversation with him about it, he decided not to return. Peat was moved while at New Orleans via various locations on the OL. Although he played guard the most of the time, one could argue that this past season, he was most reliable at offensive tackle.

He will likely start at tackle for the Raiders in the upcoming campaign. Trevor Penning, an offensive tackle, is under additional pressure to compete for a starting position now that they lost out on Peat.

3-time All-Pro Bowl Dumped New Orleans Saints to Sign With The Raiders

The status of Ryan Ramczyk is uncertain, and when the season starts, rookie offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga might be used at left or right tackle.

It will become clearer on the OT depth chart once they have more information regarding Ramczyk. Whatever the case, Peat’s departure is significant for New Orleans.

Last season, he started twelve games, showed growth, and maintained a largely healthy status. Although the validity of Pro Bowl voting is debatable, Peat did participate in the event three times while playing for the Saints.

We’ll see whether the Saints bolster their offensive line with any additional veteran depth. The most recent addition to the interior is Lucas Patrick.
