If there is one player who truly exemplifies what the Las Vegas Raiders are all about it is, without a doubt, star defensive end Maxx Crosby. Not only is Crosby absolutely unstoppable on the field, Crosby has also grown into the true leader of this franchise.

Last season was Crosby’s best yet, as he set career highs in total tackles (90), tackles for loss (23) and sacks (14.5) while finishing fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting, being named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl and a second All-Pro Second Team selection. And the Raiders felt it necessary to reward him.

The Raiders are awarding Crosby a $6 million raise for the 2024 NFL season without adding any more years to his deal, according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN. This is a move that is uncommon in the league:

According to league sources who spoke with ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders are handing three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby a $6 million increase for the 2017 season without adding any more years to his contract. According to reports, the Raiders are also transferring $1.2 million from his 2026 contract to the 2025 campaign.

Crosby is a man who deserves it more than anyone else. He gives everything he has to whatever he does, pushing himself to be on the field for the Raiders. In fact, Crosby’s amazing season was made even more impressive by the two operations he had this offseason to address concerns from the previous season.

As he mentioned at the beginning of the Raiders’ offseason training regimen, Crosby’s only objective now is winning and getting the team back among the NFL’s best. Indeed, it has been a boon. It’s been a hell of a road, but in the end, winning is all that matters to me.

triumphing for this company. I put my all into this, and I want to consistently be the greatest teammate and leader I can be.

Being a Raider holds particular meaning for me. I have genuine relationships with everyone, even the janitor and the owner. There’s a reason I come here each day. It resembles a family. It’s thrilling to get things going again since not many teams function as we do. We just need to translate it into victory.

There is no doubt about it: Crosby is determined to turn the Raiders into a winning club, and the team made a wise choice in compensating him for his accomplishments and future plans. The Raiders intend to improve in the trenches this season, and Tyree Wilson, the team’s first-round selection from the previous year, should provide them a significant defensive advantage.

Wilson has been working hard to get better this offseason without suffering any injuries, and Maxx Crosby has, of course, been there to encourage him.

In a recent interview, Wilson discussed Crosby’s assistance with him over the summer, pointing out that in addition to aiding him with on-field matters, the Raiders captain is also assisting him with proper rehabilitation, stretching, and nutrition.
