Who Will Be The Detroit Lions ‘Bounce-Back’ Player In 2024?

For the 2024 NFL season, the Detroit Lions are excited to see some of the players on their roster make a comeback. EDGE is one of the stocks predicted to rise. After a difficult time with the Minnesota Vikings, Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus believes Marcus Davenport is ready to get back to his best. Davenport is listed by Locker as the Lions’ “Bounce-Back” player for 2024.

Due to a high ankle sprain, Davenport’s 2023 Vikings career was hampered by restricted playing time, which significantly reduced his impact. Throughout the season, he only played 114 snaps, produced just seven pressures from 77 pass-rushing attempts, and had a concerning 40% missed tackle percentage. His previous tenure with the New Orleans Saints, when he continuously showed off his pass-rush skills by racking up 30 or more pressures per season for five years, culminating in an incredible 88.8 overall grade in 2021, was a far cry from this effort.

It is believed that Davenport’s addition to the Lions defensive line was a crucial decision for the individual and the group. The Lions have an excellent defensive front that includes players such as Aaron McNeill, D.J. Reader, and Aidan Hutchinson. If Davenport can return to his previous level of play, it will give the Lions a huge boost and improve their pass rush.

High hopes are held for Davenport in 2024. The expectation in the Lions’ camp is that he can duplicate the success he had in New Orleans with a clean slate and a healthy season. In order to strengthen Detroit’s defense and aid the team in making a deep playoff run, Davenport may need to overcome the obstacles of the previous season and reach his best level of play.

Previous Challenges: Marcus Davenport’s brief tenure with the Minnesota Vikings was marred by underwhelming play and ailments, most notably a high ankle sprain that prevented him from playing in 114 snaps and made little of an effect on the field. Proven Track Record: Prior to joining the Minnesota Vikings, Davenport was a reliable pass-rusher for the New Orleans Saints, where he recorded high pressure rates and an 88.8 performance rating in 2021.

Potential for 2024: Davenport is anticipated to recover and make a major contribution to the Detroit Lions’ defensive efforts with a more positive approach and incorporation into a strong defensive line that boasts players like Aidan Hutchinson, D.J. Reader, and Alim McNeill.
