The Las Vegas Raiders could make a trade with the Dallas Cowboys to add another well-known quarterback to their group. All offseason long, the Dallas Cowboys have been promoting Trey Lance.

Extension negotiations with Dak Prescott are still ongoing in the background. Dallas will need to make the necessary payments if they want to retain Prescott for the long run. It’s not a good look for them.

Prescott will most likely become one of the NFL’s highest-paid quarterbacks when the Cowboys acquire him. Prescott is up next, and Jared Goff just got paid.

Jerry Jones’s wallet will suffer more the longer the Cowboys wait. However, Dallas can profit from remarks made regarding Lance by head coach Mike McCarthy, such as this one.

“My point is that I’ve been quite happy with him as he crosses that boundary. There is exceptional athletic talent. We made some changes to his move,” McCarthy remarked.

“You’re attempting to give him as many reps as you can throughout this offseason program because he needs them. It is intended that he will play a significant role in the preseason. He and I discuss preseason quite a bit. That is our goal as we go.”

Could the Cowboys trade Trey Lance to the Raiders?

In order to complement veteran starting quarterback Aidan O’Connell, who showed promise last season, the Raiders signed Gardner Minshew this offseason.

Las Vegas Raiders To  Sign Cowboys' Trey Lance In Proposed Trade Deal

Minshew is a seasoned player with experience who might make an impact in training camp, and Antonio Pierce appears to have faith in O’Connell.

In this year’s NFL Draft class, Vegas decided against picking a rookie, but Lance is a good possibility if they wanted to add another exciting potential to their quarterback room.

Even with everything the Cowboys are claiming about Lance, he is still a young prospect. Even though Lance is only 24 years old, if a QB guru can ever unlock him, he possesses the talent of a former top-5 choice. Given that the Cowboys obtained him in September of last year for a fourth-round pick, the asking price would not seem excessive.

Lance shouldn’t be traded by Dallas unless they receive several picks in exchange. As a somewhat unknown prospect at this juncture in his career, Lance is not worth a Day 2 selection. But if the Raiders accept some of the rumors coming out of the Cowboys OTAs, trading two Day 3 picks over the course of two different rounds makes sense.

Dealing Lance gives Prescott’s camp much more negotiating leverage in contract negotiations and practically forces the Cowboys to give in. The greatest time to make this trade would be after Dak is extended, which may occur at any time.
