Texas’s FriscoKaVontae Turpin had an outstanding first season as a Pro Bowl kick returner in 2022, and he entered the second season of the league in 2023 with an improved offensive game that gave him more opportunities to play at his native position.

Despite having more opportunities with more snaps available in Michael Gallup’s absence, he made sure to spend time with his two newborn daughters this offseason.

He was able to account for 237 yards of total offense and four touchdowns in the 2023 campaign because he took the time to marinate offensively in the building last year.

It’s going well,” Turpin remarked. “Simply being there for my children. I’m simply trying to use the offseason to keep in shape and spend time with my family because I had them just before the season. observing them mature and develop teeth in their mouths. Simply being there is a blessing.”

By the time year three rolls around, Turpin has made his mark in the building, and with his newfound confidence, he should be even more of a receiving powerhouse for Dak Prescott by 2024.

As I enter my third year of offense—my second—it seems more certain now,” he remarked. “I go outside and play quickly and in all directions.

I’ll just jump right in and start playing no matter what position they put me in. I’m just happy that I was able to complete OTAs both this year and last. Being the player that I am today was really helpful.”

Turpin is looking forward to developing his return game skill set even if he has an offensive goal in mind, particularly with the new kickoff rules coming into effect in 2024. That’s what special teams coordinator John “Bones” Fassel has demanded a lot of time and effort from him thus far this summer, he claims.

We’re working so hard,” he remarked. “Bones, being the intelligent guy that he is, commits himself to cherishing it. He’s performing on special teams in ways you wouldn’t even anticipate.

Having him on board and helping him pick up the new regulation is a good thing.” Turpin is excited about the new regulation as he aims to stand out among returners not just in today’s game but in all of them.

Making the Pro Bowl this year is one of my objectives,” he declared. “I want to be remembered as one of the NFL’s most lethal returners ever. That’s what I intend to do, particularly since this is my contract year. All I want to do is show that I’m still here and to disprove people.”
