A daring trade suggestion that would give the Detroit Lions the top offense in the NFL Although it doesn’t seem like something they’re likely to do, the Detroit Lions would be wise to go all in to cover a hole in their offense at the expense of a fresh trade proposal.

In the present, Higgins is not present at the Bengals’ OTAS. He’s literally not allowed to be there because he hasn’t signed his franchise tender. Higgins shared this on Instagram on Thursday, adding a little fuel to the flames following the announcement that Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle had signed a new contract. Higgins won’t be signing a multi-year contract with the Bengals, given their recent experience with the franchise tag. He’s not technically bound to practice, nor is he under any contractual responsibility, if he doesn’t sign the franchise offer.
So the Bengals, shy of a rare move to rescind the franchise tender, may be left to cut their losses and trade Higgins. On that front, and on the notion Bengals rookie wide receiver Jermaine Burton shows himself well at OTAs, Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report has offered up five trade packages the Bengals may have to consider.
Which of the Lions’ four-round picks in 2025 were forfeited in order to move up and choose Sione Vaki in the April draft is unknown. Apart from that, though, a 25-year-old wide receiver for two and a fourth-round selection in the next year is a very good deal. If and when Higgins signs his franchise tender, it is totally assured to be worth $21.8 million for this year.
As Moton indicated, the Lions currently have a little over $31 million in cap space, as shown by Over The Cap. After June 1st has passed, which is practically the following week,
General manager Brad Holmes of the Lions proposed adding a wide receiver prior to training camp after the draft. The clear implication that this is not someone who would sway the target tree in his favor, but rather someone who is a depth/camp body addition.
However, a slight chance to add Higgins shouldn’t be completely dismissed until it’s investigated, and many clubs could be conducting some real due diligence in that area. That includes the Lions, who should at the very least be considering the best offensive in the league this season.
