Tom Telesco, the general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders, has a reputation for leaving the draft board early in the draft during his 11 seasons in the same capacity with the Los Angeles Chargers.
In his first selection as the Raiders’ lead last month, Telesco employed the same formula. It appears to have been effective. According to Pro Football Focus, Telesco engaged in some major draft theft at the beginning of the process.
One of the biggest draft steals of the first round, according to the analytics site, was the Raiders’ selection of Georgia tight end Brock Bowers with the No. 13 overall choice.
Telesco had not finished his shady work. One of the finest draft steals of the second round, according to PFF, was the Raiders’ pick of Oregon offensive tackle Jackson Powers-Johnson at No. 44.
As rookies, Bowers and Powers-Johnson are anticipated to play significant roles. So, Mr. Telesco, give a bow.
