Watt recently concluded his fourth season as a member of the First Team All-Pro, and for his 2023 efforts, he came in second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting, trailing only Myles Garrett of Cleveland. For the first time since making a big splash, one NFL star is now being connected to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Micah Parsons, a former All-Pro and Defensive Rookie of the Year, is eagerly awaiting a rich new contract deal.Parsons ‘absolutely expects’ to be the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL, according to Cowboys reporter Clarence Hill Jr. That’s not all, though.
Parsons kept the door open to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers even though he informed Hill that he has no desire to play anywhere other than Dallas.
There’s a reason for this, and his name is “Coach T.”
Micah Parsons is interested in joining Mike Tomlin on the Steelers
This is only a theoretical situation. With the Dallas Cowboys, Parsons is going to make his move and maybe upend the edge defender market. However, it’s interesting to note that he brought up the Pittsburgh Steelers as a possible future landing spot, even if that were only hypothetical.
It’s not too difficult to determine why. Similar to the Cowboys in recent times, the Steelers have had difficulty making it to the postseason. Still, who wouldn’t want to represent Mike Tomlin?
Parsons specifically stated that he would be leaving Dallas because of Mike Tomlin. In the process, he dismissed the Philadelphia Eagles—the other NFL team that plays close to his Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, hometown—as a possible destination in the future.
It appears that Tomlin has this impact on players; in the past, a number of signings have indicated that Tomlin was the main reason they wanted to join the squad. Even so, Micah Parsons’ size surpasses even Mike Tomlin’s ability to bring a fish in. Is that even possible to imagine?
Unfortunately, this is just a story from a storybook. T.J. Watt is anticipated to be tied up by the Pittsburgh Steelers for the duration of his career, and he already has an outstanding companion in crime in Alex Highsmith. All of these are great things, but having Parsons on the team would create a pass-rush tandem that the NFL has never seen before.
